A hardworking dad from Prahran, Melbourne, was shocked after learning he won a life-changing AU$1.6 million from TattsLotto.
The lucky winner initially didn’t answer the call from the lottery official notifying him of the big prize.
The man plans to buy a car and set aside money for his children’s school fees.
On Monday, The Lott confirmed that the Prahran resident is one of four division one winners from the TattsLotto draw on August 9, 2025.
Each division one winner took home AU$1,668,614.99. The winning numbers were 45, 4, 10, 40, 41, and 14, with supplementary numbers 3 and 6.
Besides the Victorian winner, three other division one tickets were sold in Queensland.
The Prahran dad bought his winning 50-game QuickPick entry via The Lott’s official website.
He recalled, “Oh my goodness. Thank you for calling! Sorry, I didn’t answer at first. My mate just said, ‘Nice one, you hung up on a lottery official!’”
Though an occasional player, he was stunned by the nearly AU$2 million win.
“This has come at a perfect time. You’ve completely made my year. What a great job you’ve got! I’m in shock, but it’s a good shock.”
Asked about his plans, he said he wants to buy a new car, go on vacation, and definitely cover school fees for his kids.
Saturday Lotto draws happen every Saturday after 7:30 PM AEST.
To win division one, players must match all six winning numbers in a single game panel.
The odds of winning division one with a standard game are 1 in 8,145,060.
Division two, which requires five winning numbers plus one supplementary, has odds of 1 in 678,755.
